Police Department

A message from the Chief....

The Ellsworth Police Department stands committed to advancing public safety in the City of Ellsworth through proactive efforts aimed at reducing crime and traffic crashes, education of our citizens, and collaboration with business, community, and other city partners. One component of our overall approach is to ensure that we are looking holistically at not only our own expectations but the expectations of our community and those that we serve. The department will strive to provide the delivery of quality police services while maintaining transparency and enhancing community trust.

Safe Exchange Zone

The Ellsworth Police Department Safe Exchange Zone is located at 207 N. Kansas Ave. in front of the police department. There are two designated parking spaces to utilize for e-commerce transactions-exchanges from classified websites such as Craigslist, Buy-Sell-Trade and Facebook. The Safe Exchange Zone can also be used for child custody exchanges. This provides a safer location to make these exchanges.

Divisions

Patrol Division

The Ellsworth Police Department officers assigned to the Patrol Division provide 24 hours a day, seven days a week patrol coverage. The EPD is a full service police department with officers focused on routine and targeted patrol of the city. In addition to responding to routine calls for service, the Patrol Division takes a proactive policing approach by reducing crime and seeking out criminals involved in illegal activity.

Code Enforcement

The enforcement of city code enforcement ordinances are enforced by the police department. The responsibility of compliance falls on everyone in keeping Ellsworth a clean and safe community to live. Property owners can be subject to citation and fines if not in compliance with city ordinance.
